Introduction
Committing yourself to another person for the foreseeable
future is one of the biggest things any of us will ever do.
In this series of presentations I will show that being
prepared for love and romance is not as strange as it might
seem. Keeping your identity as an individual and
strengthening your self esteem while being part of a couple
is fundamental to having a strong loving relationship. In
this talk I will set the scene for the next 4 talks.
Self-Care, Values and Commitment, Communication
These are three of the most important things to get right
when you are starting off in a relationship. Self-care is
about you growing as an individual within the relationship
while Communication is about supporting each other as you
move forward together. No matter if you have been with each
other for 50 days of 50 years these things remain the
cornerstone of a lasting partnership
Resolving Disagreements, Friendship and Partnership,
Sex
Without friendship in a relationship there is no basis for
anything more than a fleeting romance. Friendship and
respect grow as two people get to know each other. In this
session I will present ways to resolve disagreements and
even touch on the often taboo topic of sex!
Spirituality, Trust and Affection, Family and
Community
What is there if there is not trust in a relationship? Trust
to tell the truth, trust to be committed to the
relationship, trust not to hurt or harm the other person
physically, spiritually or mentally. In this session we will
cover all aspects of trust as well as looking at affection
and how the extended family fit in to the picture.
Magic and Romance and pulling it all together
Often when we first get to know someone romantically there
is a touch of magic in the air. In this talk I will be
looking at ways to keep romance in the relationship and
discovering how a couple can make the magic last forever. I
will also pull the series together in this session
